In this work, an economic growth model with endogenous labor shift under a dual economy is given. It is proved that the model has unique nonzero equilibrium and its solution is globally asymptotically stable, and the aggregate capital growth of the industrial sector and the labor shift appear in eight different patterns at different initial conditions. c © 2007 Elsevier Ltd. assigning a set of objects to groups such that objects in one group or cluster are more similar to each other than the other clusters’ objects is the main task of clustering analysis. sspco optimization algorithm is anew optimization algorithm that is inspired by the behavior of a type of bird called see-see partridge. one of the things that smart algorithms are applied to solve is the problem ...

This is an insightful paper on Latin America as a development disappointment. I agree with the authors that Latin America’s performance over the last two decades, or the last five decades, or even the last century is a disappointment. However, the authors’ perspectives on this disappointment are a little open to question. First is the claim that Latin America is a unique disappointment. They ma...

We survey recent results in one-dimensional dynamics, and as an application, we derive rigorous basic dynamical facts for two standard models in population dynamics, the Ricker and the Hassell families. We also informally discuss the concept of chaos in the context of one-dimensional discrete time models. First we use the model case of the quadratic family for an informal exposition and then we...

A growth model is developed for an open dual economy. Th e economy expands due to a higher growth rate of labour productivity in the modern sector through the Kaldor-Verdoorn channel and higher eff ective demand through a Keynesian channel. Th e model incorporates a retardation mechanism aff ecting the slopes of productivity and output growth schedules as labour surplus and economies of scale d...

In a homogeneously mixing population of E. coli, colicin-producing and colicin-sensitive strategies both may be evolutionarily stable for certain parameter ranges, with the outcome of competition determined by initial conditions. In contrast, in a spatially-structured population, there is a unique ESS for any given set of parameters; the outcome is determined by how effective allelopathy is in ...

This paper uses longitudinal data from the BHPS, waves 1-8, to document low-income dynamics and persistence for individuals living in Britain in the 1990s. Poverty exit and reentry rates are estimated and the resulting distribution of time spent in poverty is calculated, both in single and in multiple-spells frameworks. Poverty persistence predictions are also produced for various subgroups of ...

The purpose of this project is to model multi-species interactions using Volterra-Lotka equations in both two and three dimensions. Changes in population dynamics that arise as a result of modifying parameters are examined. The population dynamics of the resulting systems are analyzed in terms of stability around equilibrium points and within invariant surfaces. Of particular interest is period...

in this paper, we have proposed a new algorithm which combines pso and ga in such a way that the new algorithm is more effective and efficient.the particle swarm optimization (pso) algorithm has shown rapid convergence during the initial stages of a global search but around global optimum, the search process will become very slow. on the other hand, genetic algorithm is very sensitive to the in...

I study two mechanisms based on punishment to promote cooperation in the two-population snowdrift game. The first mechanism follows the traditional approach in the literature and is based on the inclusión of a third strategy in the payoff matrix of the stage-game. The second mechanism consists of letting cooperators to punish defectors with a given exogenous frequency. While both mechanisms sha...
